Data Deletion Policy

We believe in complete transparency and control over your data. Learn how you can delete your account and personal information.

1. Your Right to Erasure

In accordance with GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy regulations, you have the right to request the deletion of your personal data from our systems at any time. We are committed to making this process as simple and transparent as possible.

2. How to Delete Your Account

You can delete your account and all associated data directly through your dashboard settings:

  1. Log in to your Editute account.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Profile.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and click Delete Account.
  4. Confirm your action by entering your password.
  5. You will receive a confirmation email once the deletion is processed.

3. Manual Deletion Requests

If you are unable to access your account or prefer to make a manual request, please email us at support@editute.com from the email address associated with your account. We will process your request within 30 days.

Please include the following information in your email:

  • Your full name as registered on Editute
  • The email address associated with your account
  • Subject line: "Data Deletion Request"
  • Confirmation that you want to permanently delete all your data

4. Facebook/Social Media Login Data Deletion

If you signed up using Facebook, Google, or another social login provider, you can still delete your Editute account data through the methods described above. Deleting your Editute account will:

  • Remove all your Editute profile information and learning data
  • Revoke Editute's access to your social media account
  • Not affect your social media account itself (Facebook/Google account remains active)

To completely remove the connection, you should also revoke Editute's access from your social media account settings (e.g., Facebook > Settings > Apps and Websites).

5. What Data is Deleted?

When you delete your account, we remove:

  • Your name, email address, and contact information
  • Your practice history and mock exam scores
  • Any saved questions, bookmarks, or notes
  • Your login credentials and authentication tokens
  • AI-generated insights and score predictions specific to you
  • Your profile picture and preferences
  • Study streak and achievement data

6. Retained Data

We may retain certain data as required by law or for legitimate business purposes, such as:

  • Financial Records: Transaction records for tax and accounting purposes (via Paddle), retained for up to 7 years as required by law
  • Legal Compliance: Data necessary to resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, or comply with legal obligations
  • Security Logs: Anonymized logs for fraud prevention and security audits
  • Aggregated Analytics: De-identified data used for statistical analysis and improving our services

This retained data is kept to the minimum necessary and cannot be used to personally identify you.

7. Timeline and Verification

Our data deletion process follows these timelines:

  • Immediate: Your account is deactivated and you lose access to the platform
  • Within 7 days: All personal data is removed from our active databases
  • Within 30 days: Data is purged from our backup systems
  • Within 90 days: Complete removal from all systems, including archives

For verification purposes, we may need to confirm your identity before processing a deletion request. This is to protect your account from unauthorized deletion requests.

8. Account Recovery Grace Period

After you initiate account deletion, you have a 14-day grace period during which you can cancel the deletion request and recover your account. After this period, the deletion becomes permanent and irreversible.

Important: Once your data is fully deleted, we cannot recover it. Please make sure to download any data you wish to keep before deleting your account.

9. Download Your Data

Before deleting your account, you can download a copy of your data. This includes:

  • Your practice test results and performance history
  • Saved notes and bookmarks
  • Account information and preferences
  • Learning analytics and progress reports

To download your data, go to Settings > Privacy > Download My Data before initiating account deletion.
